In order to carry through the operation concept of “absolute integration of the service with international standard”, CHIMBUSCO has installed Mass Flow Meters (MFM) on its main bunkering barges and put them into operation for both bonded and domestic trade fuel oil bunkering services.

Recently, the bunkering barge “CHIMBUSCO 36” has, for the first time, used MFM to supply domestic trade oil to “Shenhua 532” of Shenhuazhonghai Shipping Co., Ltd. With mutual cooperation between the crew of the two vessels and under the supervision of the Department of Technology of CHIMBUSCO Hebei Branch, it took one hour to accomplish the fuel supply, and the supply was metered by two methods: MFM as the main and measuring cabin as the auxiliary. Finally, “CHIMBUSCO 36” supplied 219.877 tons and “Shenhua 532” received 219.677 tons, which means that the deviation was far lower than national allowable deviation. The fuel supply process is conducted in an orderly manner, winning consensual commendation from the crew of “Shenhua 532”.

MFMs have also been launched on bonded fuel oil bunkering barges. On 18th Many, CHIMBUSCO Qingdao Regional Center received the bunkering confirmation of supplying 745 metric tons of bonded 380CST fuel oil to the vessel “King Corn”. In addition to tracing the detailed berth schedule and preparing the bunkering plan in advance, the Qingdao Regional Center also sent metering staffs to board on the vessel to keep track of the entire bunkering. On May 22, barge “CHIMBUSCO 38” was assigned to approach Vessel “King Corn” berthing at Lanshan Port on May 22. Personnel were assigned by the vessel to inspect the barge’s MFM pre-pump readings, take records and photos, and sign the “Confirmation Form for Fuel Supply with MFM”. After the proper preparation, the pump started normally for fuel supply at 0040 and stopped at 0615. Then, the assigned personnel inspected the MFM post-pump again, taking readings and photos, calculating the number of flow meters, and compared with the vessel’s received volume. Finally, the chief engineer of the foreign vessel signed the slip satisfactorily. He indicated that he accepted the bunkering with MFM by CHIMBUSCO and concluded this fuel supply with continuous commendation “GOOD! GOOD! GOOD!”.

“CHIMBUSCO 36” and “CHIMBUSCO 38” successfully made their debut with MFM. The superiority and convenience of MFM for fuel supply was demonstrated sufficiently, allowing CHIMBUSCO to take the lead in domestic fuel supply market. While setting up a good service image, CHIMBUSCO also perfectly illustrated its operation concept of “absolute integration of the service with international standard” to the customers, and laid a foundation for promoting the fuel supply with the mass flowmeter in vessels.
